For Mark's birthday we made lemon frosted sugar cookies. They are his favorite and cake just doesn't work so well anymore.
Perhaps this should be our new tradition for all birthdays. Cakes always look so pretty and promise more taste than they can deliver. Cookies seem more unassuming and don't have all the empty fluff of the cakey part. Don't get me wrong, a quality cake with a proper frosting is delicious, but overall I think that cookies have the edge.
