Grandma and Grandpa Come to Town

We just had a fun week with Grandma and Grandpa Brown in town.

Holden and Lili love to play cards with Grandma. At one point Grandma said, "I seem to lose every game." To this Holden replied, "That's because we're the best." (And because Grandma lets you win.)

On Tuesday we did the driving tour of Lake City, Wabasha, Nelson, Wisconsin, Alma. It was hot and humid and exactly what you'd expect for looking out over the Mississippi River.

Wednesday and Thursday we hung out closer to home. We went on a picnic at Quarry Hill. As we were walking out to the van, Holden had his laptop tucked under his arm.

Mark took the day off on Friday and we headed to the Spam museum. Spam--another famous MN native. Holden said that he wants to work in the factory.

On Saturday we met Steven and Becca in Northfield--home to Carleton and St. Olaf's college's. How well I remember their beautiful brochures from high school. We wandered around the cute downtown and had some good college hangout joint hot dogs for lunch.

Lee and Aneta were impressed with our garden bounty. We feasted on cucumbers and yellow squash. Any day now for a red delicious tomato.
Grandma and Grandpa left yesterday after church. As they left Liliana asked Holden why he had the frowny face.
Today is Mark's birthday. He left this morning for a conference in Pensacola, FL on health care excellence.
