We really outdid ourselves for spring break this year.
It all started on a Friday when Goldie (the newest member of our family) revved up and headed out on her maiden road trip, which was to the great college town of Madison, Wisconsin. We have friends from the Willamette University days who live there and we've been meaning to go for ages.

On Saturday morning, we met up with our friends Tony and Julie and their two boys. Julie works for the family business and Tony is a doctoral student at UW. After a scenic drive through Madison (population about 230,000), we ended up at the zoo to hang out with the lions, tigers, giraffes, polar bears and rhinocerouses (sp?).
Asher at Henry Vilas Park Zoo--free and perfectly sized. You can see Asher loves turtles as much as his dad.
Big-man-on-campus. Notice the truncated "W", as in University of Wisconsin. UW is great and all, but it's no Iowa (go Hawks!).

The Brown Family visits the state capitol. It is big and beautiful, modeled after the nation's capitol building in Washington, D.C.
No photos, but we had delicious Thai food too. Nothing better than a little pad thai, pad see iew and some red curry to boot. College towns are great.
The fun continued for the children and I. After coming home from Madison and spending a couple days playing with friends and washing laundry, we headed down to Kansas City to visit the cousins.

Thank you Meredith, Brooke, Ethan and Brian (once Miriam stopped crying whenever she saw you) for letting us come and visit. We had a great time!
And there is still Easter before heading back to school on Monday.
